China's influence in the global aluminum industry may gradually weaken

CICC recently released a non-ferrous metal research report, pointing out that China's influence in the global aluminum industry chain may gradually weaken, and gradually shift to the upstream, but in the end the market will not be able to predict transformation.

According to China Gold's judgment, China's influence in the world is expected to gradually weaken with the decrease in China's imports and the substantial expansion of domestic production capacity. However, if there is a major supply problem in the bauxite market, leading to the inability of domestic smelters to obtain sufficient minerals, China's alumina demand may return to the international market.

CICC said that the supply of bauxite in the country has been continuously rising, but its reserves are low and its quality is poor, making the future supply trend still unclear. Therefore, CICC believes that in the global aluminum industry, China's influence will shift to the upper reaches.

CICC predicts that China's bauxite imports will reach 46 million tons by 2015, 11 million tons more than in 2010. The possibility of major supply disturbances in the future will cause China to continue its overseas search.
