Four explosions of Chinese workers died as a result of an explosion at a hydroelectric station in Ecuador

China's Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd. contracted an explosion at the Sopradola hydropower station built in Ecuador on the evening of the 1st, killing four Chinese workers currently under construction.

According to the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador, the accident occurred at 20:01 pm on the 1st, and the Chinese company’s hydropower station suddenly exploded during the excavation of the shaft, causing four Chinese construction workers to be killed on the spot. After more than five hours of rescue, the bodies of the four dead were dug out. No foreign casualties occurred in the accident.

After the accident, the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador immediately set up an emergency handling team to initiate emergency plans for overseas production safety accidents, assisted the relevant units in organizing accident investigations and remedial measures, and requested Gezhouba Group to carry out comprehensive safety rectification work in Ecuador’s project team.
