Global crude steel production fell by 0.6%

According to the latest statistics from the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI), crude steel production in the world’s 62 major steel-producing countries and regions in July 2006 was 1.03573 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.8% and a month-on-month decrease of 0.6%. In July of this year, the EU-25 crude steel production was 16.573 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.8%, a decrease of 3.8%; North American crude steel production was 113.36 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.7% and a month-on-month decrease of 0.7%; Asia's crude steel production was 5522.5 Ten thousand tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.4%, a decrease of 0.7% from the previous month; the CIS production of crude steel was 10.26 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%, and an increase of 2.5% from the previous quarter.
The statistics also show that from January to July this year, the total output of crude steel from 62 major steel-producing countries and regions in the world was 700.4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.1%. From January to July, crude steel production in 25 EU countries was 117.5 million tons, an increase of 5.5% year-on-year; North American crude steel production was 78.68 million tons, an increase of 6.9% year-on-year; Asia's crude steel production was 366.8 million tons, an increase of 13.1% year-on-year; Conjoined crude steel production was 68.94 million tons, an increase of 6.4% year-on-year.
In addition, according to the International Steel Association, after deduction of China’s production, the global crude steel output in July was 67.48 million tons, an increase of 11.2% year-on-year, a decrease of 0.08% from the previous month; after deducting China’s production, the global crude steel production from January to July was 4.644 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%.
In July, the average daily output of crude steel in 62 major steel-producing countries and regions in the world was 3.341 million tons, an increase of 14.8% year-on-year and a decrease of 3.8% from the previous month. In July, global crude steel entered the off-season production, and daily production began to show a downward trend.
