The ruthenium complex dye sensitizer is the earliest and most widely used sensitizer in dye-sensitized solar cells. Due to the shortcomings of narrow absorption range and weak light absorption of the dyes of traditional ruthenium complex dye sensitizers, the team members introduced electron donor antenna groups containing heterocyclic rings on the ancillary ligand (benzoxazole, methoxytriphenylamine, EDOT -Methoxytriphenylamine, etc.) Synthesis of dozens of dye-sensitizers with strong absorbance, broad spectrum spectroscopy, and ruthenium complexes. Applying these dye molecules to dye-sensitized solar cells achieves efficiencies of more than 10%, which is close to the highest level of dye-sensitized solar cells in the world.
