1) About stainless steel products.
Compared with iron and aluminum, stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance. It is a metal that is difficult to rust. Because it contains chromium, it can combine with oxygen to form a solid and fine non-thickness of 1 millionths of a millimeter on the metal surface of the substrate. Dynamic film, this film has anti-rust function. Therefore, if the stainless steel rust only occurs when the non-dynamic film is destroyed and the regeneration is hindered for some reasons, if the corrosion is removed, the combination of chromium and oxygen can regenerate the non-dynamic film and restore the corrosion resistance.
There are various reasons for the rusting of stainless steel. Most of the cases are caused by the adhesion of iron powder and harmful gases floating in the air, the regulations or the salt in the tidal sea breeze. The curing of moisture causes the non-dynamic film on the surface of the stainless steel to be injured and hinders its regeneration, so it rusts.
In addition, even if the non-dynamic film of the stainless steel itself is not damaged, but the oxygen is prevented from flowing to the surface thereof, condensation is formed and the adhesion of the above-mentioned harmful substances is promoted, soot, dust, dirt, and the like are accumulated on the surface.
Our company's handles, lock cylinders, machine plates and other exterior parts use SUS304 stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance. However, as mentioned above, it is not guaranteed to rust at all, depending on the method of use and the site.
However, if it is the initial rust, it can be easily removed by using a commercially available kitchen cleaner or the like to restore the original surface state.
2) About aluminum products.
Aluminum has a fine non-dynamic film on the same surface as stainless steel, which protects the substrate metal from corrosion. Since this film is not as strong as stainless steel, when used as a building material, aluminum is subjected to passivation and coating to improve corrosion resistance. Passivation is to increase the corrosiveness and artificially thicken the acid film, and then obtain various color tones by coloring.
Aluminum products, like stainless steel, are corroded by the adhesion and accumulation of components in harmful gases, the adhesion of salt, soot, dust, dirt, etc., and if they are alkaline drugs (detergent, cement, mortar, etc.) ) If it is attached for a while, the surface will be discolored.
Unlike stainless steel, aluminum can not return to its original appearance once it has corroded and discolored.
3) About brass products Lead brass is not corroded and rusted like iron, but the raw material itself is easily oxidized, and it will turn black and discolor in a short time, so it is generally necessary to apply a table to prevent discoloration. However, when it is scratched, worn and loses the coating film, brass, like aluminum and stainless steel, will change color due to adhesion and accumulation of components in harmful gases, salt adhesion, etc., and brass is particularly susceptible to condensation and corrosion. The effect of the substance quickly discolored due to the adhesion of dirt and dust.
Once the brass is discolored, it cannot be restored due to the non-friction of the coated surface.
In order to maintain the appearance of the lock, no matter what kind of material should be cleaned regularly before rusting, usually dry with a soft cloth, etc. If there is conspicuous dirt, please use a neutral detergent to remove it.
4) Regarding the frequency of cleaning, depending on the environment and location of the building, it is roughly:
a, pastoral area: 2-3 times a year.
b. Other areas: 3-4 times a year. However, there are many areas in the coastal areas where there are many sea salt materials, railway coastlines and ironworks workshops, areas with volcanic ash falling, etc., and it is hoped to increase the frequency of cleaning. Even in an environment where corrosion is relatively slow, it is necessary to increase the number of cleanings for parts of the eaves that are likely to accumulate pollutants.
Also, brass products are more prone to discoloration than stainless steel and aluminum products, and it is necessary to increase the number of cleanings.
