In the actual operation of the material mixers, crushers and other equipment in the building materials industry, the spindle is often deformed and bent due to the inclusion of iron and other debris. In the case where the shaft has been bent before, it is often difficult to correct the shaft by reducing the shaft or scrapping it. The author finds a practical method for manually correcting the shaft for a shaft larger than 90 mm in diameter, as follows:
(1) Mount the shaft on the lathe, use the knife on the lathe to hoist back and forth in the length direction of the shaft, the lathe cannot be started, and the shaft is rotated and matched to find the bending point of the shaft bending (see the attached drawing).
Bending point diagram
(2) Draw a circle around the bending point. The diameter of the circle should be determined empirically according to the diameter of the shaft. On the circle, use a small hammer to evenly strike back and forth. The purpose of the tap is to let the shaft of this part expand due to the force striking, so that the bending axis is straightened.
(3) After tapping for 30 minutes, the shaft can be taken back to the lathe, and the straightening progress after the tapping is repeated. The author's experience is: when the bending of the shaft with a diameter of 100mm is constant, the normal tapping time is about 100min.
This program is simple and practical. However, it should be pointed out that the use of this solution when bending a shaft with a diameter of less than 90 mm is not very effective, because the shaft with a small diameter often has a large degree of bending.
