Chinese scientists invent new single transistor logic structure

On June 3, Zhang Wei and Zhou Peng, professors from the School of Microelectronics of Fudan University, cleaned the silicon wafers in the laboratory.

Recently, the research team of Fudan University has made a breakthrough in the field of integrated circuit basic research. They invented a new logic structure that allows a single transistor to "work one person for two people", which reduces the area of ​​the transistor by 50%, and the synchronization of storage calculations is further improved. Related research results have been published online in "Nature-Nanotechnology".

Under the von Neumann architecture, computing and storage are separated from each other. Nowadays, the calculation speed of data is getting faster and faster, but the storage speed and transmission speed have not been simultaneously improved. The limitation of the von Neumann architecture is mainly reflected in the mismatch of calculation speed, storage speed and transmission speed.

The new logic structure of the Fudan scientific research team can solve the bottleneck problem of data transmission blocking through the device-level storage and computing integrated path, breaking through the limitations of the von Neumann architecture in the existing logic system. Only "one room" can realize the calculation and storage functions, that is, the layered work in the "room", the first layer is responsible for calculation, the second layer is responsible for storage, and the two surface layers form a stack in a vertical space.
