[comprehensive] How scary is high temperature smoke? Ningbo Fire Recreates Real Fire Field

A fire can spread to what extent? Thicker smoke than the fire, how fast is the spread? How long can ordinary people withstand in high temperature and heavy smoke? To meet the “119” fire prevention theme this year, to understand the community fire scene, analyze the causes of fire and corresponding measures, recently, the Ningbo fire brigade simulated a residential fire experiment.

The experimental site is a 6-storey abandoned residential building to be demolished in Ningbo Jiangbei District. Before the experiment began, the experimenters distributed 24 surveillance cameras, 8 toxic gas detectors, and 8 thermometers on various floors to cover the monitoring of fire and smoke development trends and data parameters in real time. At the same time, an experimental pig was placed on the aisles on the second floor, the fourth floor, and the sixth floor, and the video was used to monitor the state of the pigs during the fire.

At the beginning of the experiment, firefighters lit two waste car batteries and flammable household items one after another and started timing. After the blazing fire, black smoke continued to emerge. The temperature on the first floor reached 40 degrees almost instantaneously and rose rapidly. The temperatures on the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors also gradually increased. According to the instrument test record, at 1 minute, the 2nd floor with the highest temperature reached 70 degrees, the carbon monoxide content in the air reached 534ppm, the temperature was 100 degrees at 2 minutes, the carbon monoxide content in the air reached 1000ppm, and the temperature reached 700 in 5 minutes. A lot.

At the same time as the fire broke out, the experimental object on the 2nd floor appeared anxious and had been walking around in the cage; after a few seconds, the smoke almost covered the entire 2nd floor aisle, and the test subject had been swallowed by heavy smoke at high temperatures. When it was roasted, it had gradually become suffocating and stunned. After 5 minutes, it was inhaled with excessive smoke and eventually fell to the corner of the second floor and stopped moving. At this time, the entire corridor was full of smoke, and the house where the experiment was located was also filled with dense black smoke.

According to the firefighters on the 3rd floor simulating the escape of the scene, smoke blew up about 1 minute after the fire on the first floor, and the room temperature gradually increased. When the simulated corridor escape data was collected, the smoke did not reach out and the firearms still remained. Can feel the gradual burning of the body feeling, thermometer detection, corridor temperature once reached more than 200 degrees, back into the room to close the door there are still more than 40 degrees high temperature, if ordinary citizens encounter such fires, do not take effective escape in a timely manner Measures, the consequences can be disastrous.

On-site experimenters told the public that smoke was the number one killer in a fire and contained a large amount of toxic gases. Once heavy inhalation, it was easily deadly. In experiments, the spread of smoke in the vertical direction reached 3-4 m/s, which is almost 100 times faster than the evacuation rate of people.

If there is a real fire, citizens may choose to escape from the corridor quickly if there is less smoke in the corridor. When they escape, they need to lower their body weight and cover their noses and mouths to minimize the amount of smoke that can be inhaled. However, if the corridor has been covered with smoke, you should immediately close the doors and windows to prevent smoke from entering, and then turn to the outside of the room for help in the window of the reverse position, waiting for rescue. Brass fasteners are used for their physical and aesthetic properties. Brass is utilized due to its high thermal conductivity and corrosion resistant properties, it is suitable for use in hot and cold environments, and resistant to water corrosion, making it a staple of industries such as heating and plumbing. Brass fasteners are largely non-magnetic (like any fastener, slight magnetic properties can develop during the manufacturing process) and resistant to tarnishing.

Brass fasteners are suited for some marine environments, including brackish water and slow current sea water; brass in this environment develops a protective green coating. Brass fasteners are also commonly used with wood applications, as the golden coloring blends well with the tan wood. Brass is a softer metal and must be used with care, always drilling pilot holes and using driver bits that fit the head of the screw precisely to prevent stripping. Brass Bolts also require a pilot hole be driven before installtion.
