The Ministry of Science and Technology held a feasibility study on the project of “low-temperature and low-voltage aluminum electrolysis new technology” project

Recently, the High-tech Division of the Ministry of Science and Technology held a feasibility study in the key project of the National Science and Technology Support Program “Low Temperature Low Voltage Aluminum Electrolysis New Technology” in Beijing.

The project achieves technological leapfrogging and industrialization with a 400kA-class aluminum electrolysis series that achieves technological upgrading and 200~300kA aluminum electrolytic series that accounted for 47.6% of total electrolytic aluminum production capacity in China in 2008 and has achieved the fastest development in recent years and has achieved complete sets of technology and equipment exports. Demonstration applications are aimed at: original and integrated innovations in design and optimization of low-pitch trench structures, low-temperature electrolyte systems and processes, critical process stability control, and energy-saving electrode materials, etc., in the 200-300kA and 400kA class electrolytic aluminum series Develop new low-temperature and low-voltage aluminum electrolysis technology to achieve the goal of reduction in the production of direct current electricity from 13300kwh/t to 12000kwh/t and saving energy by 10% in aluminum electrolysis production, reducing fluorocarbon emissions by 50%, and providing technology for upgrading and reforming the aluminum electrolytic industry in China support.

Experts at the meeting heard the feasibility report of the project and agreed that the project is in line with the “National Long-and Medium-Term Scientific and Technological Development Plan Outline” and the “Non-Ferrous Metal Industry Adjustment and Revitalization Plan”. The research and development of the project will play a scientific and technological support role in response to the international financial crisis. It is of great significance to promote energy-saving and emission reduction and realize the revitalization of the non-ferrous metals industry.
